Jason S. Todd, Ph.D., directs the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Faculty Development (CAT+FD) at Xavier University of Louisiana, where he also holds the Kellogg Professorship of Teaching in the Department of English. Since joining Xavier in 2007, he has held a series of academic leadership roles, including Director of the Writing Center, Director of the Quality Enhancement Plan, Director of the Digital Humanities Program, and Faculty Director of the Core Curriculum — work that included leading the university's X-Core general education transformation, a faculty-driven shift from a 60-hour distribution model to a scaffolded 40-hour interdisciplinary core. He received Xavier's 2023 Norman C. Francis Faculty Excellence Award in Teaching for courses such as "Dystopias, Real & Imagined" and "Cyberpunk, the Postglobal & the Posthuman."
At CAT+FD, Todd leads faculty development across teaching, scholarship, mentoring, and work/life balance, with recent work focused on generative AI policy and pedagogy — organizing the campus discussion group Prompt & Response, drafting Xavier's institutional AI statement, and presenting on co-creating AI policy at venues such as Tulane's Sparking Success conference. He serves as Assessment Co-coordinator for the POD Network's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and as a contributing editor for Xavier Review.
Todd holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from the Center for Writers at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he studied under Frederick Barthelme, Steven Barthelme, and Mary Robison, and a B.A. in Writing from Webster University. His short fiction and essays have appeared in Southern Literary Journal, Chicago Quarterly Review, and Southern California Review, among others, and he is currently at work on his second novel.
