Grade Entry
For all classes at Xavier, midterm grades and final grades must be entered into the Banner Faculty Self Service System by the deadline provided by the Dean of the college. Course grades are not currently pushed directly from Brightspace to Banner, so you must enter the grade for each student into Banner manually. This is a fairly easy process once you know what to look for.
Before you start
Make sure you have the Grades page in Brightspace pulled up on another screen. Banner will time out after a certain amount of inactivity, so you should not start this process until all your course grades have been calculated.

Special Grade Codes and Policies
As you complete or review your submissions, please observe the following for special grade codes:
- NG (No Grade): Do not use NG for credit-bearing courses. This code is reserved for non-graded courses, such as drills.
- I (Incomplete): Do not assign an incomplete at midterm. Incomplete grades are permitted only as final grades and require the approval of the Dean.
- AU (Audit): An audit can only be approved by the Dean's Office. Do not enter a grade for a student with AU listed for your course.
- P/PC: Use P (Pass) for developmental classes and senior comprehensives. Use PC (Pass with Credit) only for other courses authorized for that designation.
- W (Withdrawal): Faculty cannot approve a course withdrawal. A W can only be entered by the Registrar's Office. If a student has a W listed for your class, do not enter a grade.
When entering final grades only, if a student is receiving an F or FE, you must also include the last date of attendance for that student.
