QM Standard 1: Course Overview and Introduction

Students need to know specific information about the course, including how to get started, what the course covers, how much time they should plan to spend on the course each week, whether the course requires any prior skills and knowledge, where to find various course components, and netiquette expectations for class communications. Also introductions from both the professor and classmates are important components.

Your course overview and introduction is the perfect opportunity to create interest and set expectations for what’s to come.

Including a course overview and introduction in your Brightspace course can be accomplished in a number of ways. We have a few course overview and introduction examples available for you to review.

Brightspace workshops are routinely offered through the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Faculty Development (CAT+FD). Check the CAT+FD events page for our current workshop offerings. Individual Brightspace help is also available by scheduling a one-on-one session with Janice Florent.
