Preparing Mentors and Advisors at Xavier (P-MAX) is an online mentorship education course that is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to mentor and advise undergraduate students, especially those engaged in research. The course is self-paced and takes approximately 6-8 hours. It's offered by Xavier University of Louisiana to anyone, anywhere, with no fee.

Topics include:

  • Mentoring philosophy & portfolio
  • Effective communication
  • Setting goals and expectations
  • Stereotype threat, implicit bias, and identity
  • Inclusive mentoring
  • Mentor self-care
