Purpose: Viewing examples of ways that assessments can be set up in an online course will provide you with ideas about how you might incorporate them into your course.

Viewing examples of ways that assessments can be incorporated into an online course will assist you in meeting the following objectives:

Course
  • Develop an online course that incorporates eight general standards for quality online teaching.
  • Build an online course in the Brightspace learning management system.
  • Design an online course specifically for the education of XULA students.

Module
  • Design assessments that will measure the achievement of your learning objectives.
  • Develop criteria for evaluating assessments that are clear.
  • Design assessments that are sequenced, varied, and suited to the level of the course.
  • Identify effective ways to construct your Brightspace course such that learners will have multiple opportunities to track their learning progress with timely feedback.

Task: Assessment and measurement of student learning can be accomplished in a number of ways in Brightspace. This Brightspace Assessment Options document lists typical activities conducted in a face-to-face class and the corresponding tools you can use to make the activities work in an online environment.

Additionally, we have a few assessment and measurement examples from Brightspace courses on our wiki that are available for you to review.
