QM Standard 5 – Course Activities and Learner Interaction

Course activities should facilitate and support student interaction and engagement. Learning activities should support active learning, as well as student-to-student and instructor-to-student interactions. Connecting activities to the real world drives student interest, engagement and retention. The expectation for student participation and interaction should be clearly explained. Feedback should be personal and timely.

You can refer to Teaching Online Pedagogical Repository (TOPR) for suggestions on learner interactions in online/hybrid courses.

There are many ways you can include course activities and learner interactions in your Brightspace course. A few examples of tools for activities and interactions are available for review.

Brightspace workshops are routinely offered through the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Faculty Development (CAT+FD). Check the CAT+FD events page for our current workshop offerings. Individual Brightspace help is also available by scheduling a one-on-one session with Janice Florent.
