Accessibility and Usability: Get Started

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) encourages the development of course experiences that will benefit all learners. When thinking of educational accessibility, it is best to design for accessibility from the beginning. This not only provides equitable access to students with disabilities but also provides benefits to learners without disabilities.

Module Objectives

After completing this module, you will be able to do the following:

  • Create course navigation that facilitates ease of use.
  • Design a course that facilitates readability.
  • Provide accessible text and images to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Provide alternative means of access to multimedia content in formats that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Design course multimedia to facilitate ease of use.
  • Identify effective ways to make a course usable and accessible in Brightspace.
